What role rifles fill
Rifles are general-purpose infantry weapons effective at medium to long range. They reward positioning and aim over volume of fire and form the core of any infantry line.
If you are unsure what to carry, a rifle is the answer.
Beginner recommendation
Start with your faction's standard rifle. It is inexpensive, widely stocked, and teaches the fundamentals of Foxhole infantry combat without burdening logistics.
Master the basic rifle before reaching for anything specialised.
What not to waste
Scoped and specialised rifle variants exist, but they cost more and are wasted in the hands of a new player or in close-range fights they are not built for.
Carry the standard rifle until you have a specific reason not to.
Ammo and logistics
A rifle is only useful with its matching ammunition, so always carry spare magazines and resupply before you run dry.
Standard rifle ammo is among the cheapest things logistics produces, which is part of why the rifle is the responsible default.
